My Journey
My path into this work began long before I ever studied acupuncture.
I was raised with an appreciation for natural ways of living and a deep respect for the wisdom found in the land. As I grew older, my own experiences with mental health, along with witnessing the struggles of those I love, led me to ask deeper questions about health, suffering, and what truly supports people through difficult times.
The loss of my brother became one of the most profound teachers in my life. It showed me that we cannot force change, fix another person, or walk their path for them. I call the experience of loosing my brother, the best and worst experience in my life. He taught me so much in those last days and I believe wholey that from the grace and compassion that grew in me during that time, it allowed me the ability to support one of my own children through addiction and recovery. Witnessing their growth and resilience reinforced my belief in the power of meet people where they are - with compassion, curiosity, and respect for their unique experience.
This understanding continues to shape the foundation of Rootlight.
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine felt like a path that honoured many values I was seeking: connection, balance, observation, and respect for the whole person. Over time, that path expanded to include trauma-informed approaches, somatic perspectives, and a compassionate inquiry approach, all of which deepened my understanding of the relationship between physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
Today, Rootlight reflects both my professional training and my personal journey. It is grounded in the belief that each person carries their own innate capacity for growth, healing, and change. My role is not to heal, fix or save anyone. Rather, it is to offer support, guidance, and care while creating a space where people can recconect with themselves and their own inner wisdom.
I cannot promise the path will be easy, - often it is quite the opposite. What I can say is that you are worth it and the journey has the potential to change you in ways you may never have imagined!
Why Rootlight?
Rootlight reflects a belief that meaningful change happens when we are willing to bring awareness to what lies beneath the surface. Often, the challenges we face are not isolated events but are connected to deeper patterns, experiences, and stories that have shaped us over time.
The name Rootlight respresents the meeting of two essential foces: the roots that ground us in our experiences, ancestry, and lived wisdom; the light is what emerges through awareness, growth, and connection. Neither exists without the other.
At its heart, Rootlight is guided by the belief that healing happens by allowing awareness to move through what is buried, rather than rejecting it. By meeting ourselves with compassion and curiosity instead of judgement and resistance, we create the conditions for meaningful change and a deeper connection to ourselves.
What You Can Expect
Every person who walks this earth carries a unique story, life experiences that has shaped them, and their own way of relating to the world. For this reason, there is no one-size-fits-all approach at Rootlight.
Sessions begin with listening. Together we explore your concerns, goals, and the factors that may be influencing your wellbeing. From there, care is tailored to your individual needs and may incorporate Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, PEMF therapy, trauma-informed principles, and other supportive approaches when appropriate.
Above all, you can expect to be met with compassion, curiosity, and respect. My goal is not to fix you, but to support you in exploring your own capacity for growth, resilience, and wellbeing.
Care is collaborative, and you remain an active participant in your own journey. I believe some of the most meaningful changes occur when people feel safe enough to be seen, heard , and supported exactly as they are.
